Event Information

B-29 Doc and WSU Tech Foundation are partnering to bring you Wichita’s first ever Pull a Plane event, a fundraiser featuring the ultimate tug-of-war competition — men and women against plane!

The challenge is to see whose team of 25 people can pull Doc, a restored B-29 weighing in at nearly 80,000 pounds. That’s right, teams will race the clock to pull Doc’s nearly 40 tons by rope 25 feet – with the ultimate prize being a ride in Doc for the person who raises the most donations for education!

The Pull a Plane event will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center at 1788 S. Airport Rd. in Wichita, KS. The opening ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. and the first team will pull at 10 a.m. View the schedule on the SCHEDULE tab above.

Pull a Plane is a family friendly event that’s open to the public. Anyone is welcome to attend to witness the event firsthand while cheering on their friends and family. Public admission will be $10 per person or $25 for a family (up to six people). The admission fee grants access to the Pull a Plane event, as well as to the Doc Hangar where a variety of STEM activities will be taking place.

How do teams work?

Each team of 25 people raises a minimum of $2,500 to help benefit education, then they will compete to pull the restored Superfortress 25 feet as fast as they can! Join us to test your strength – and quickness – against competitors.

So grab your barbells and recruit your friends and co-workers. There is only one Doc and he calls our great city of Wichita ‘home’. Let’s get pullin’ for a great cause to benefit education in our community!

Who benefits?

Net proceeds collected from Pull a Plane will be split between WSU Tech Foundation to support student-focused initiatives and B-29 Doc to help finance Doc’s new home and hangar education displays.
